Robert Desai is an established equities investor based in Massachusetts. Prior to his career in finance, Desai had a fulfilling medical career.

While still in High school, Robert took advantage of an offer to do research work at the Medical Foundation of Buffalo (now known as Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute) for a summer. Ultimately, this is what sparked Desai’s interest in Medicine and research in particular.

Dr. Desai started his educational journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied Applied Biology. Upon receiving his degree, Desai went on to study at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. In May of 1981, Robert graduated with his M.D. and went on to to start an Internal Medicine Internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton Lower Falls, Massachusetts.Desai completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in 1985 where he was Chief Resident and finally his abdominal imaging fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 1986.

Following his fellowship, Desai accepted a position at Abbott Radiology in Buffalo, New York. Subsequently, Dr. Desai ventured to Ohio where he worked at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as Full Staff Physician and later Lakeshore Radiology Corporation where he was CEO. Later, after a short period of time in Private Practice, he later accepted the position of Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2004 before spending his final years in Private Practice.

Looking back on his medical career, Dr. Desai greatly values his time in the medical field. Being able to teach the Resident Physicians and providing guidance to them, was most rewarding. Authorship of multiple scientific articles and associated speaking engagements provided a depth of experience not enjoyed by many. Today, Desai works as an equities investor in Massachusetts.
